The delightfully bouncy electro-pop of opener ‘Animal’ on this album from Miike Snow is a good yardstick of the gems contained within; fizzy, euphoric and ever so-slightly Caribbean in flavour.
'Black and Blue' and 'Sans Soleil' both feature a lush elegance, but only when the electronica is kept to a minimum. Too often, there is a sonic overload, a myriad of sounds but no semblance of anything holding them together. The album features some cracking moments but not enough sadly. More clubby than pubby, it still feels like a dance album with lyrics added as an afterthought. A case of close, but no cigar.
